We Knew Horses & Other Neo-noirs
We Knew Horses & Other Stories is a collection of linked short stories with a deep interest in class tensions across the American landscape. They attempt to pull some of the Pulp-era grit and cynicism and dark humor into the 21st century. Stories from the collection have appeared in Gulf Coast, Indiana Review, BULL, Cimarron Review, Noo Journal, and Storyglossia. Other stories from the collection are forthcoming.
the unlikely claim of wenning rome
My novel-in-progess, The Unlikely Claim of Wenning Rome, follows the lives of four main characters: Father Thomas Keenan—a wayward, small-town parish priest; Anthony Russo—a gambler, hustler, and member of Father Keenan’s parish; and Anna and Chloe Wenning—sisters adopted by the owners of a thoroughbred breeding farm in upstate New York. These characters’ paths intertwine around the budding career of a racehorse whose history and lineage is as dark and complicated as the human sport that exploits him.
